RIMA VIII
When I see the blue horizon
vanish in the distance
behind a shimmering cloud
filled with gold,
it seems like I could rise from
this wretched earth
and float in the golden clouds,
dissolved into tiny
particles like they are.
When I gaze into the depths
of the sky at night
and see the stars tremble like shining
eyes of fire,
it seems like I could climb
to where they shine
and bathe in their light, and merge
with them in a kiss
of incandescent light.
In the sea of doubt through which I sail,
I hardly know what I believe;
nevertheless, these desires tell me
that I carry something
divine here inside me!
