ANACREÓNTICA
De un jilguero
A linnet, from a neighboring wood,
His restless wings had spread.
He came ard circled for a time
About any crownless head.
A branch forth from his native wood
Soon in his beak he brought;
And to entwine it round my brow
With wondrous pains he sought.
The efforts of the foolish bird
I saw were quite in vain;
And wearied, from my crownless head
He sought the wood again.
I, knowing his despair, exclaimed
As near me yet he ranged,
«If me thou'dst crown, let laurel leaf
For myrtle be exchanged!».
