I would like to fly
«I would like to fly!
to yonder mountain's summit
standing out so green
above the gray of the horizon...
jade green, moss green, ocean green --
I would like to fly!»
White is the morn
and the sun bathes with transparence
the foliage of the rosebush
How ugly the plain earth!
O'er the morning breeze
on a bell's voice,
I would like to fly to the peaks.
Or to climb 1
until the poor,
miserable body tires;
to let the soul, at last, attain
that spiritual living
that peak and height give,
that the light against the horizon...
under the morning sun,
draw my figure from the mountain top,
far from the world and the sea:
how ugly the plain earth!
I rather fly! 2
